Kenya Power Announces Thursday Outages in Six Counties

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions set for Thursday, affecting several areas across six counties: Nairobi, Kisii, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, and Embu.

In Nairobi County, parts of Pangani will be without electricity from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Affected locations include Marang’a Road, Guru Nanak Hospital, Pangani Police Station, Juja Road, Radiant Hospital, North View Road, Strawberry, Pangani Girls, Alamin Hospital, KICD Headquarters, and parts of Muratina and Fair View roads.

In Kisii County, the blackout will impact Nyamache, Igare, and Kiobegi areas within the same timeframe. Institutions and facilities such as Nyamache Tea Factory, Matierio Secondary, Igare Market, Nyamagwa Girls and Boys, Boitangare Secondary, and the Safaricom Booster will be affected.

Kirinyaga County will see power interruptions in Kagio, Kiunga, and Kandongu. This includes part of Kagio Town, Mitarabo, Kiamachiri Polytechnic, Mutithi Girls, Gitooni Primary School, and nearby communities.

In Embu County, Gatondo and Maramuri areas will be impacted. Among the affected sites are Gatondo, Havard, Embu High School, Kamutungi, Muiganania, and parts of Muthatari.

Kiambu County will experience extensive outages across Kamiti and surrounding zones. Notable affected areas include Kamwangi Market, Kariua, Igegania Hospital, Kairi Market, Gatei, Kanjuku, Mbici, and various schools, health centers, and shopping hubs across Ngorongo, Kangoo, and Mbogoro.

In Kilifi County, disruptions will occur in Kokotoni, Kanamai, and Mtwapa. Businesses and institutions such as Iron Africa, SS Mehta, Coca-Cola Bottlers, Mombasa Apparel, Milly Fruits, Umoja Rubber, and Northcoast Medical College will be affected.

Additional blackouts will affect Bomani, Junju, Mwembetsungu, Mtwapa Market, and various residential and commercial facilities.

Kenya Power advises residents in the listed areas to prepare accordingly and apologizes for the inconvenience caused, noting that the interruptions are part of ongoing maintenance and system upgrade efforts.
