NAIROBI, Kenya – If you’re in Nairobi, Meru, or Kiambu, brace for scheduled power interruptions on Monday as Kenya Power carries out routine maintenance.
The outages, set to run to 5 p.m., will affect several neighborhoods and businesses, with the utility company citing the interruptions as necessary for enhancing service reliability.
Nairobi residents in Kahawa West, Githurai, and Nairobi West are among those who will experience the blackout.

Specifically, Kahawa Sukari and Githurai 44 will see interruptions in Zimmerman, parts of Githurai 44, and Kahawa Barracks.
Nearby institutions, including Kenyatta University and Farmers Choice, are also on the list of affected customers.
In Nairobi West, power cuts will impact areas like Naimey Road, Nairobi West Hospital, and ICC Church, extending to neighborhoods such as Madaraka Estate, Strathmore University, and Nyayo Stadium.
Key roads like Ole Sangale and Bunyala will also be affected, alongside adjacent estates and businesses.
In Meru County, Embu and Timau areas will face disruptions. The power outage will affect prominent flower farms such as Embori Flowers, AAA Growers, and Kisima Flowers.
Educational institutions like Kisima Secondary and Kiambogo Primary will also be impacted, as well as local markets and farms around Timau and Ngarendare.
According to Kenya Power, the maintenance aims to ensure these areas benefit from a more stable electricity supply in the future.
Kiambu County residents in Matara, Gakunyi, and Kanyoni areas will also experience outages. Businesses like Matara Tea Factory and institutions like Karinga Girls will feel the pinch, alongside local markets, dispensaries, and mission centers.
The blackout will stretch across smaller towns, including Karatu Market, Gituamba, and Thrace Village.Kenya Power has emphasized that these outages are part of a larger initiative to upgrade infrastructure and enhance service delivery.
