Mombasa Road Traffic Alert: KeNHA Schedules Disruption for Footbridge Installation

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — If you’re planning to drive along Mombasa Road this weekend, brace yourself. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced scheduled traffic disruptions near the Syokimau Railway Station, and yes — it’s all for a good cause: a new footbridge.

According to KeNHA, the Nairobi-bound carriageway will be partially closed on two nights to allow for the installation of footbridge beams for the Syokimau Railway Footbridge. The affected periods are:

  • Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00 pm to Saturday, June 21, at 6:00 am, and
  • Saturday, June 21, from 10:00 pm to Sunday, June 22, at 6:00 am.

The Authority is urging motorists to follow the traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the site.

So why all the fuss about beams? Because safety.

The Syokimau footbridge is part of a broader infrastructure plan to ensure pedestrian safety while enhancing mobility along one of the busiest highways in the country.

This announcement was made on a post on X (formerly Twitter)

So, while the overnight delays might mess with your late-night plans, they’re laying the groundwork — quite literally — for safer, smarter infrastructure.

A little incconvenience for the safety of other road users is something worth experiencing.
