NAIROBI, Kenya — Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya has dismissed a viral image purportedly showing him with President William Ruto at State House, describing it as fabricated.
Speaking on Monday night, February 23, Munya questioned the plausibility of the image, pointing out the impossibility of being in two places simultaneously.
“Someone can be in two places at the same time?” Munya remarked.
Allies of the former Cabinet Secretary echoed his skepticism, accusing the government side of attempting to mislead the public with AI-generated imagery.
“How desperate can Ruto be? Yesterday, Ruto’s people were claiming that he was with Peter Munya at State House, yet he was in Kisii, saying one term,” stated Chege Majuice, a close associate of Munya.

On the same day, the former Meru Governor joined United Opposition leaders, led by Fred Matiang’i February 18, Fred Matiang’i met with Munya and other PNU officials to formalize the alliance.
Under the deal, PNU has agreed not to field a presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election. The party has instead endorsed Fred Matiang’i for the presidency, citing his record in public service, education reform, security coordination, and administrative leadership.
“PNU has endorsed Dr. Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election. Matiang’i represents discipline in public service, courage in decision-making, and a track record of results in education reform, security coordination, and public administration,” Jubilee stated.

The Jubilee Party described the partnership as a commitment to reviving the economy, restoring dignity to public institutions, empowering youth, and fostering integrity in government operations.
