Nairobi Court Halts Motor Sports Chair’s Role Amid Leadership Dispute

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – A Nairobi court has temporarily barred Maina Muturi from acting as the chairman of the Kenya Motor Sports Federation (KMSF), pending the resolution of a leadership dispute filed by director James Kahumbura.

Senior Principal Magistrate A. Nyoike issued the orders after Kahumbura, alongside other KMSF directors, lodged an application accusing Muturi of continuing to present himself as chairman despite his removal.

According to court documents, Muturi was elected chairman in 2023 and served for one year before questions surrounding his eligibility for the position led to his ousting.

The directors claim Muturi’s actions since his removal have caused governance issues within the federation.

Kahumbura emphasized the need for clear leadership in the organization, which oversees motor sports activities in the country.

“It is crucial to restore stability and uphold the integrity of the federation,” he stated.

The court order prevents Muturi from exercising the powers of the chairman until the case is heard and determined.
