Nairobi, Kenya- Police in Nairobi’s Kayole area have arrested two suspected masterminds of an elaborate electronics robbery network, recovering hundreds of stolen items in a late-night sting.
The suspects were cornered inside an apartment at Turin Court in Mihang’o after officers from Embakasi Police Station tracked a missing iPhone 15 to the residence. The recovery followed what authorities described as “credible intelligence” shared by members of the public.
Inside the apartment, detectives stumbled upon a staggering haul of electronics believed to have been stolen from different victims. The loot included 321 assorted mobile phones, seven laptops, several chargers, covers, a music system, and two speakers. The police confirmed that all the seized items will be kept as exhibits as investigations continue.
“We commend members of the public for providing crucial information and applaud the swift coordination between Kayole and Embakasi officers, which led to the successful arrests and recovery,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement.
The two suspects are being held at Embakasi Police Station and are expected to be arraigned in court once processing is complete.
This latest bust comes months after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) cracked another electronics theft in Embakasi.
In April, two suspects were arrested for stealing goods worth Ksh17.6 million during the Easter holiday.
That break-in targeted a warehouse, where thieves carted away 363 Hisense TVs, 20 HB TVs, 11 soundbars, four HP laptops, mobile phones, CCTV servers, and other valuables.
Police say the twin incidents underscore the rising sophistication of electronics theft rings in Nairobi and have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
