NAIROBI, Kenya- In a momentous call for unity and impartiality, President William Ruto vowed that his administration would pursue an inclusive development agenda for all of Kenya, regardless of the voting patterns seen in the last election.
Speaking on Friday at the swearing-in of his new Deputy, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Ruto emphasized the importance of serving all Kenyans equally, reminding leaders of their responsibility to rise above political divides.
During the ceremony, President Ruto urged his administration to serve with transparency and loyalty to all Kenyans, pointing out that personal or regional interests have no place in government service.
“We’re not here to serve ourselves, our families, our communities, or our villages. We are here to serve the Republic of Kenya and the people of Kenya,” he declared.
Stressing the importance of impartiality, he asked leaders to respect the spirit of the Constitution and serve without bias.
In an appeal to Deputy President Kindiki, Ruto expressed confidence that Kindiki’s approach would bring a new era of unity to the executive branch.
The President hinted at a sense of isolation in recent years, alluding to his fallout with former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached in October following alleged misconduct and lack of cooperation within the government.
With Kindiki now at his side, Ruto expressed hope for collaborative leadership, saying, “I have almost become a lonely voice in the executive—please help me. I am confident that you will bring what I have missed over the past two years.”
For Ruto, Kindiki’s swearing-in represents an opportunity to reinvigorate the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, which promises development projects that promote national cohesion.
The President urged Kindiki to uphold his duties with fairness and dedication, encouraging him to be a symbol of integrity and unity across Kenya.
Ruto’s administration has taken a firm stance on national inclusivity, aiming to ensure every region sees development gains.
“None of us, regardless of the office we hold, is greater than our Constitution,” Ruto reiterated, encouraging all institutions to uphold their constitutional duty to serve Kenyans without bias or favoritism.
For Ruto, unity and collaboration are not only essential to the government’s success but also critical to building a prosperous future for the nation.
