NAIROBI, Kenya – In a show of solidarity, Kenyan professionals are coming out to help Genz protestors with free services and where needed, water.
One such incident was at the Supreme Court where lawyers and other staff members were seen tossing water bottles towards the protestors, who were braving heavy teargasing and running battles with police.
The widespread protests, sparked by public discontent over the punitive financial bill 2024, have seen thousands take to the streets in major cities including Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa and across Kenya.
Many participants and bystanders have shown acts of kindness that stand out in the midst of the unrest.
In a heartening display of community support, doctors and lawyers are offering their services free of charge to both protesters and anyone affected by the clashes.
Medical professionals have set up makeshift clinics along protest routes, tending to injuries and offering medical advice.
There have been multiple instances where protesters have extended a helping hand to police officers.
Amid the heavy use of teargas to disperse crowds, some demonstrators have been seen assisting officers by providing them with water to wash their faces and alleviate the effects of the gas.
