NAIROBI, Kenya – The Public Service Commission (PSC) has invited applications for the position of Principal Secretaries in the public service, following recent Executive reshuffles that created vacancies.
Interested and qualified Kenyans have until December 4, 2024, to submit their applications for consideration.
In a public notice, the PSC outlined the qualifications and application process for the coveted roles.
To qualify, applicants must hold Kenyan citizenship, possess a degree from a recognized university, and demonstrate at least 15 years of professional experience, including five years in a leadership or senior management position within the public or private sectors.
Additionally, candidates must meet the leadership and integrity standards outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Key Responsibilities
Principal Secretaries serve as the accounting officers and authorized officers of their respective State Departments, overseeing policy implementation, financial management, and inter-governmental programs.
They are also tasked with ensuring the delivery of public services in line with Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution.
Application Process
Applicants are required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, academic and professional certificates, a national ID or passport, and relevant supporting documents.
Applications can be sent through manual delivery, email, or post. The PSC emphasized that scanned copies of these documents must accompany online submissions.
Clearance Requirements
Candidates must secure clearance certificates from five institutions, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a recognized credit reference bureau.
The PSC also encouraged applications from women, minorities, marginalized groups, and persons living with disabilities.
Terms of Service
Principal Secretaries will serve on contracts as determined by the appointing authority.
