LOS ANGELES, United States — Police in Los Angeles have arrested a suspect after gunfire was reported outside the Beverly Hills home of pop superstar Rihanna, authorities said.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired at around 13:15 local time on Sunday. Investigators later confirmed that the property targeted belonged to the Barbados-born singer and business mogul.
According to police officials cited by CBS News, several assault-rifle shell casings were recovered outside the residence. Authorities said a woman in her 30s allegedly stopped a car near the mansion, fired seven rounds toward the property, and then fled the scene.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
A law-enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was inside the home when the shots were fired but was not harmed.
Police later located the suspect’s vehicle about eight miles (12 kilometres) away from the residence. Officers arrested the woman and took her into custody for questioning. Authorities have not yet released her identity or possible motive.
Investigators are now examining evidence recovered at the scene and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby properties to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The incident comes at a time when the global pop star has recently been in the spotlight for family milestones and legal headlines involving her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.
In September last year, the couple welcomed their third child, a daughter, adding to their two sons, Riot and RZA. The pregnancy was publicly revealed during an appearance at the Met Gala, where the pair announced the news on the red carpet.
