Ruto’s UDA Swallows ANC, To Have Two Deputy Leaders

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The ruling United Democratic Alliance Party has merged with the Amani National Congress.

The merger was announced by the Party’s Chairperson, who is also the Embu Governor Cecile Mbarire on Friday.

This merger marks the culmination of a process initiated over a year ago, aiming to unify political efforts under a common banner.

In an address, Governor Mbarire expressed immense satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the merger process, highlighting the critical role played by the Deputy President in overcoming challenges that had previously stalled progress.

“We are extremely happy as the UDA party that we have finally come to the end of this process,” Mbarire stated. “Our new face is the face of a united Kenya where every Kenyan ought to be.”

The merger has led to various structural changes within the party, including integrating ANC’s identity symbols into the new UDA logo and branding.

Key appointments were also announced, with Issa Timamy named Deputy Party Leader alongside DP Kithure Kindiki, Kelvin Lunani as Vice Chairman, and Omboko Milemba as Deputy Secretary General.

Members of the ANC secretariat will be incorporated into the new party’s structure, ensuring continuity and collaboration.

Governor Mbarire emphasized that the merger committee has been tasked with implementing the transition within 90 days, ensuring that all pre-merger coalition benefits and commitments from the Kenya Kwanza Coalition are honored and utilized for the party’s advancement.

“The newly merged and stronger party will embark on a renewed fundamental aspiration to promote inclusiveness and democracy,” Mbarire declared. “We are building a robust political party that transcends the political landscape of our nation, generations, and government administrations.”

The UDA and ANC merger was officially approved last year during a high-profile meeting in Lamu County hosted by ANC Party Leader Governor Issa Timmy.

The event gathered over 140 members of the Amani Council, alongside elected MPs and MCAs from ANC, setting the stage for today’s announcement.
