Second Body in Mlolongo Abductions Case Identified at Nairobi Morgue

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The body of Martin Mwau, one of three men who went missing in Mlolongo last December, has been found at the Nairobi Funeral Home, deepening the mystery surrounding their disappearance.

Mwau’s body was identified shortly after the remains of Justus Mutumwa, another of the missing men, were located at the same facility.

Mutumwa, Mwau, and Karani Muema vanished on December 16, 2024, leaving their families in a month-long search for answers.

Mutumwa’s body was reportedly retrieved from Ruai and taken to the mortuary on December 18—just two days after he disappeared. However, details on where Mwau’s body was recovered remain unclear.

The discovery has fueled growing concerns over the trio’s fate and mounting pressure on authorities to explain what happened.

Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly denied involvement, despite public outcry and legal demands for transparency.

After ignoring multiple court summons, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin finally appeared in court on Thursday, insisting they had no knowledge of the men’s disappearance.

Amin maintained that the matter was still under investigation.

With two of the three men now confirmed dead, the whereabouts of Karani Muema remain unknown.

Families and human rights groups continue to demand justice, calling on the government to take accountability for the rising cases of enforced disappearances.
