State House Denounces Reports of ODM MPs Snubbing Ruto Meeting, Calls Claims Baseless

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The State House has dismissed media reports claiming key ODM legislators deliberately skipped a meeting with President William Ruto, labeling the articles misleading and mischievous.

Hussein Mohammed, the State House Spokesperson, clarified that no formal meeting between the President and ODM MPs was scheduled for Monday, contrary to the reports.

He emphasized that official invitations are communicated through formal channels, making the allegations baseless.

“State House communicates or invites MPs or any other individual or groups through official channels,” Mohammed stated via X.

The media reports had suggested that prominent ODM members aligned with Raila Odinga avoided a formal meeting with the President, fueling speculation of internal discord within the party.

Some attributed this to fears that the handshake between Odinga and Ruto may be undermining ODM’s core values.

However, the State House refuted these claims, explaining that President Ruto spent September 9, 2024, inspecting the Kibera Soweto East Zone B Affordable Housing Project, which aims to deliver over 4,000 housing units to Nairobi residents.

Afterward, MPs in attendance, including George Aladwa (Makadara), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), and Esther Passaris (Nairobi), joined the President for an informal lunch at State House.

“No formal meeting took place,” Mohammed reiterated, calling the reports purely speculative.
