TSC Opens Applications for 24,000 Junior Secondary Teacher Internships

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has invited applications for 24,000 internship positions in Junior Secondary Schools across the country as part of efforts to strengthen the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In a notice issued Tuesday, TSC said the application window will run from August 26 to midnight, September 9, 2025.

Interested candidates are required to apply through the commission’s official platforms—www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or directly via teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

“Successful applicants will be posted to Junior Schools within the sub-counties where they are interviewed or to other schools within the county where vacancies exist,” the commission stated.

Internship details

The one-year Teacher Internship Programme is designed to provide new educators with hands-on classroom experience, mentorship and coaching.

Interns will handle various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be Kenyan citizens
  • Hold at least a Diploma in Education
  • Have a KCSE mean grade of C+ with at least C+ in two teaching subjects
  • Be registered teachers with TSC

Interns will receive a stipend of Sh20,000 per month, subject to statutory deductions.

Equal opportunity

TSC emphasised that the programme is not a salaried position but encouraged all qualified applicants, including persons with disabilities (PWDs), to apply.

The commission also warned against fraudsters posing as recruitment agents and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest TSC office or its headquarters.

The recruitment process will follow the Guidelines for Recruitment of Teacher Interns for the 2025/2026 Financial Year, available on the commission’s website.
