Viral Video of MP Mbadi Warning President Ruto on His Cabinet Choices Emerges: ‘The Skunk’

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – A video of Suba South Member of Parliament, who is also the chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has gone viral, capturing a stark warning to President William Ruto regarding his Cabinet choices.

This video has resurfaced with new relevance after President Ruto’s unprecedented move to dismiss his entire Cabinet, sparing only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also serves as the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Foreign Affairs.

The MP’s cautionary remarks were made during a parliamentary session to approve the Cabinet following the election of President Ruto and his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

In the video, the MP urges his colleagues to either reject over 60 percent of the proposed names or allow President Ruto to bear the consequences of his selections.

“We have a choice to make either to reject over 60 percent of these names or give President Ruto his skunk. Let us not interfere with it, we give it to him, he has asked for it,” the MP said passionately.

This ‘prophetic’ warning has struck a chord with many Kenyans, especially in light of the massive protests that erupted across the country.

The protests, largely led by the country’s youth, were fueled by dissatisfaction with the government’s performance and perceived incompetence among the Cabinet members.

The unrest ultimately compelled President Ruto to take the drastic step of dismissing his entire Cabinet, a move seen by many as a response to the mounting public pressure.

In his address, the Suba South MP emphasized the inevitability of the President running his government from State House, a sentiment that now seems prescient given the recent turn of events.

“We know he (President Ruto) will run his government from State House,” the MP remarked, foreshadowing the centralized control that critics have since attributed to Ruto’s administration.

The mass dismissal has left many Kenyans speculating about the future composition of the Cabinet.

Will President Ruto reappoint some of his previous ministers, who have been widely criticized as incompetent, or will he introduce new faces to restore public confidence?

This question looms large as the nation waits with bated breath for the President’s next move.
