Wavinya Ndeti Courts Global Partners at World Health Expo 2026 to Boost Machakos Healthcare

Date:

MACHAKOS, Kenya — Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has pitched for global partnerships to strengthen healthcare delivery in the county during the World Health Expo 2026 in Dubai.

In a statement shared after attending the global forum, Governor Ndeti said the county government had engaged innovators and healthcare partners to support the modernization of medical services in Machakos.

“We have had a chance to engage partners with whom we will collaborate to ensure we strengthen healthcare services across Machakos County,” she said.

The governor outlined key priority areas, including the acquisition of advanced CT scan machines to improve diagnostic accuracy and speed, the installation of state-of-the-art theatre and laboratory equipment to enable local handling of complex medical cases, and procurement of modern ambulances to enhance emergency response.

“We are focused on having advanced CT scans for faster and accurate diagnosis, state-of-the-art theatre and laboratory equipment to handle complex cases locally, and modern ambulances to ensure timely and life-saving response,” Ndeti stated.

The move aligns with county governments’ mandate under the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, which assigns health services — including county health facilities and pharmacies — to devolved units. Counties have increasingly sought international partnerships to bridge funding gaps and upgrade infrastructure amid rising demand for specialized care.

Machakos County has, in recent years, invested in upgrading Level 5 facilities and expanding maternal and emergency services.

Governor Ndeti emphasized that her administration remains committed to equipping medical personnel with modern tools to improve service delivery.

“My commitment to ensuring Machakos County has the best healthcare services remains steadfast, as we continue equipping our dedicated medical staff with modern equipment and delivering dignified, high-quality care to every resident of Machakos,” she said.

The World Health Expo brings together policymakers, innovators, manufacturers, and healthcare leaders to showcase emerging medical technologies and foster cross-border collaboration. For counties like Machakos, such platforms present opportunities to attract investment and technical support aimed at strengthening devolved healthcare systems.

Whether the engagements in Dubai translate into formal agreements and funding commitments will likely shape the next phase of healthcare modernization in the county.
