Yemen Envoy Dies Suddenly at Nairobi Home, Police Investigate

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – A quiet Sunday evening in Nairobi’s Kilimani neighborhood turned tragic after a Yemen Embassy official suddenly collapsed and died at his home, triggering a police investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.

Mohamed Nabil, 52, who served as an attaché at the Yemen Embassy in Kenya, reportedly experienced severe breathing difficulties before collapsing on the night of May 25.

His wife, who was present at the time, raised the alarm. Neighbors and an ambulance crew quickly responded, but despite the urgent efforts, Nabil was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

What’s puzzling investigators is that Nabil had no known underlying medical conditions. According to his family, his health had been normal in the days leading up to the incident. That, combined with the sudden onset of symptoms, has prompted authorities to dig deeper.

Cause of Death Remains Unknown
Police confirmed that they are yet to establish the exact cause of death and have moved the body to the mortuary pending a full autopsy.

Officers who visited the scene have already begun reviewing the diplomat’s recent movements, meals, and interactions as part of the standard investigative protocol.

Though there’s no official indication that the death is linked to politics, the timing has raised eyebrows. Yemen has been grappling with ongoing internal conflict and political instability, and Nabil’s role at the embassy placed him in a sensitive diplomatic position.

Authorities are treading carefully as they investigate, aware of both the local implications and the need to maintain diplomatic protocol. The Yemeni government has not issued an official statement, and Kenyan officials have promised a transparent inquiry.
