Eldoret to Host Inaugural Tech Run: A Unique Fusion of Technology and Athletics in Kenya

Date:

ELDORET, Kenya- In an exciting development for both the tech and sports communities, Kenya is set to host the inaugural Tech Run on December 1-2, 2024, in Eldoret.

This groundbreaking event organized by Eldohub in partnership with UK Kenya Tech Hub and the British High Commission, aims to unlock tech innovations while promoting the region’s stature as a global athletics hub, leveraging Kenya’s renowned prowess in long-distance running and its burgeoning tech ecosystem.

EldoHub provides STEM education, job matching, and digital work. The firm also runs entrepreneurship development programs and incubates startups to bring their ideas to life.

The Tech Run will feature a 10km Elite Athlete Run showcasing world-class Kenyan athletes alongside a 5km Tech Innovator Run tailored for tech professionals, startups, and investors. These races will exemplify the dynamic synergy between technology and endurance, celebrating the resilience and determination characteristic of both sectors.

The accompanying Eldoret City Investors Forum will be a pivotal platform for inspiring tech-driven innovation. It will examine the role of sports science in business, encourage a culture of mental wellness and resilience among entrepreneurs, and explore sustainable practices that stimulate economic growth and job creation, particularly for youth and women across Kenya.

“Kenya is known for its long-distance running and innovation in tech,” said Magdalene Chepkemoi, founder and CEO of Eldohub. “Like in marathon running, building a successful business requires endurance, patience, and long-term commitment. Unfortunately, these essential traits are often overlooked in seeking immediate results. Our goal with the Tech Run and Investors Forum is to showcase how the tenacity of Kenyan athletes can inspire and transform our entrepreneurial landscape.”

The rich tradition of endurance associated with Kenyan athletes resonates deeply within the entrepreneurial realm, where success often demands the same resilience and focus that athletes exemplify. This event highlights that shared journey, celebrating innovation and adaptability as key components to achieving lasting success.

“Like excelling in marathon running, developing a sustainable business calls for sustained effort, patience, and a vision for the future. The Tech Run for Eldoret City Investors Forum symbolizes the powerful synergy between athletic endurance and entrepreneurial spirit,” said Athletics Kenya President Jack Tuwei.

As Kenya aspires to be a leader in technology-driven solutions, the Tech Run will shine a spotlight on the parallel between sporting excellence and business acumen. Participants will engage in discussions that accentuate the importance of mental and physical resilience necessary to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship.

“The Tech Run for Eldoret City Investors Forum leverages our unique cultural identity by uniting stakeholders from technology, sports science, business, and mental health sectors,” said

Country Director, UK Kenya Tech Hub,  Enos Masinde. “Kenya’s renowned standing as a global hub for long-distance running serves as an apt metaphor for pursuing entrepreneurial aspirations. It underscores the need for stamina, strategic planning, and community support to navigate both sports and business landscapes.”
