NAIROBI, Kenya—Revered city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has aimed at Kenya’s judiciary system, accusing it of rampant corruption.
Addressing journalists in Nairobi, Ahmednasir stated that the Kenyan judiciary has never been this corrupt.
“We have talked about law for all these years. I talk about law, and I practice those. I tell you from where we sit that the Kenyan judiciary has never been this corrupt. We talk about the issue of judges taking bribes daily. This is something that was even there in the 80s and 90s regarding political independence, like police brutality during the KANU era,” he said.
However, the senior counsel observed that the issue of judges taking bribes has existed for the past ten years.
‘The rule of money reigns supreme, and in Kenya, it doesn’t matter the court; there is no judgement that you can’t buy a country since it cannot survive if the justice system is filled by money,” he added.
According to Ahmednasir, a country will collapse if the judicial system fails.
“That is why we are making all these cries and noises, and we, as Kenyans, must address this problem. The challenge facing the judiciary is Kenya’s biggest challenge,” he added.
