NAIROBI, Kenya – The 2025 Magical Kenya Open just got a major financial lift, thanks to a Sh40 million sponsorship from Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) through its premium whisky brand, Johnnie Walker.
The sponsorship, announced at Kenya Railway Golf Club, reaffirms KBL’s long-standing commitment to elevating golf in Kenya and promises an unforgettable experience for fans.
Set to tee off from February 20–23, 2025, at the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Club, the 56th edition of the tournament will once again put Kenya on the global golfing map. A Pro-Am event will precede the main competition on February 19.

With a $2.5 million (approx. Sh.320 million) prize purse, the Magical Kenya Open remains one of Africa’s most prestigious tournaments, attracting 144 top-tier professional golfers from around the world.
KBL Managing Director Mark Ocitti emphasized the company’s pride in supporting the event.
“We are proud to renew our partnership with the Magical Kenya Open through our premium spirit brand, Johnnie Walker. As a long-standing supporter of golf in Kenya, we are committed to providing fans with a bespoke and memorable experience at the tournament,” Ocitti stated.
Johnnie Walker has promised to bring excitement to the Tournament Village, ensuring fans enjoy world-class hospitality and entertainment alongside the action on the greens.
Kenya will be well-represented with a strong contingent of eight professional players, all of whom secured their spots through Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) qualifier events.
On Friday, February 7, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts announced a sponsorship of KES295 M for the Magical Kenya Open. CS Salim Mvurya reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting the sport. Excitement is building up! Get ready to tee off from Feb 20 to 23!
The lineup includes Njoroge Kibugu, Greg Snow, David Wakhu, Samuel Njoroge, Dismas Indiza, Mohit Mediratta, Riz Charania, and Edwin Mudanyi.
Kenyan amateur golfers will also take to the course, led by Michael Karanga, the 2024 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Champion, and John Lejirma, the KAGC 2024 Runner-Up.
