NCTC, NYS Partner to Shield Kenyan Youth from Radicalization

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and the National Youth Service (NYS) have launched a new partnership aimed at protecting young Kenyans from radicalization and violent extremism while equipping them with skills for national development.

Senior officials from both agencies, led by NCTC Director and NYS Commissioner General, met to map out a collaborative strategy focused on structured training, national service, and community engagement.

The initiative seeks to fortify the resilience of young people against extremist ideologies by instilling a sense of purpose and national responsibility.

The partnership comes at a time when youth in Kenya remain a prime target for radicalization by extremist groups.

By integrating counterterrorism education into NYS training programs and fostering community participation, the initiative aims to steer vulnerable young people away from potential recruitment and towards constructive roles in nation-building.

NCTC and NYS officials described the collaboration as a “new dawn” for youth empowerment and national security.

Beyond addressing security concerns, the initiative is expected to open up opportunities for young people, positioning them as key players in maintaining peace and stability in Kenya.
