NAIROBI, Kenya – Qatar Airways is soaring to new heights by partnering with Starlink to introduce high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi on its Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
By the last quarter of this year, passengers on three of these aircraft will be the first to enjoy this game-changing connectivity, with plans to expand the service across the entire modern fleet within the next two years.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, and Starlink Engineering Vice President, Mike Nicolls, were on hand to unveil the exciting news at the Aircraft Interior Expo.
Passengers can look forward to complimentary ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 500 megabits per second per plane.
This means seamless streaming of favorite entertainment and sports videos, smooth online gaming, and enriched web browsing—all accessible with a simple ‘one-click-access.’
“This collaboration with Starlink reflects our customer-first mindset and our dedication to taking the passenger experience to unprecedented heights,” said Al-Meer. “As we continue to innovate, we aim to meet and exceed our passengers’ expectations throughout their journey with Qatar Airways.”
Mike Nicolls echoed this enthusiasm, stating, “High-speed, low-latency internet is the future of aviation connectivity. We’re excited to bring Starlink’s technology to Qatar Airways’ fleet, allowing passengers to enjoy the world’s best in-flight connectivity from the comfort of their seats.”
This initiative makes Qatar Airways the largest airline to partner with Starlink, marking a significant milestone in aviation connectivity.
The Starlink service, engineered and operated by SpaceX, offers high-speed, low-latency internet to users worldwide.
Qatar Airways’ adoption of this technology will set a new standard for in-flight internet services.
This partnership demonstrates Qatar Airways’ position as a global leader in aviation innovation, consistently delivering advanced technologies to enhance the travel experience.
