NAIROBI, Kenya — Brace yourself for a day of flickering lights and dead Wi-Fi! Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across 11 counties this Thursday, affecting various regions between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The planned outages will allow for system maintenance, ensuring a more stable electricity supply in the long run—though it might mean an inconvenient day for some.

Where and When Will the Lights Go Out?

From Nairobi to Turkana, here’s a breakdown of the areas that will experience power disruptions:

  • Nairobi (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – Affected areas include Forest Road, KICD, Jubilee House, Pangani S/Centre, KCDF, Northview Road, Chai Road, Mogotio, Muthithi Road, and Wambugu Ojijo Road.
  • Kiambu (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – Expect blackouts in Magajo Primary, St. Paul Gatuanyaga, Magana Primary, Munyu Girls, Githima S/Center, Juja Farm Athi, Mukuyu-Ini, and nearby locations.
  • Mombasa (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – Areas such as Danka Petrol Station, Uwanja wa Ndege, Hakika Maize Mill, and Blue Jay will be affected.
  • Kilifi (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)Kasemeni, Bofu, Mtaa, Roofing Kenya, and surrounding customers should expect interruptions.
  • Makueni (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – Power cuts will hit Maiani Market, Enzai, Mukaa, Bishop Ngala, Nguluni, Kilome, and other areas.
  • Uasin Gishu (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) – Areas like Maranatha, St. Jude, and Huruma East will face outages.
  • Turkana (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) – Expect blackouts in Lokichar, Kakong, Kalemngorok, Keekunyuk, Katilu, KWS, and Kaputir.
  • Kakamega (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)Malava Market, Kambi Mwanza, West Kenya Sugar, and Bulovi Market will experience power cuts.
  • Homa Bay (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) – Areas affected include Starige Hotel, Shauriyako, Tourist Hotel, and Got Rabour.
  • Embu (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)Mayori, Karimari, Ciambingu, and Kiambere will see service interruptions.
  • Meru (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) – Areas like Mavis Petroleum, Mulanthakari, Thuura C/Fact, Meru Water Treatment Plant, and Rwanyange will be affected.
