NAKURU, Kenya – President William Ruto presided over the Cadet Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a momentous occasion that celebrated the graduating cadets’ dedication, discipline, and perseverance.
The event marked not only the end of months of intense training but also the beginning of a new chapter in their careers, focused on honour, duty, and service to the nation.

In his address, President Ruto congratulated the graduates, acknowledging their hard work and accomplishments throughout their training.
He particularly recognized the first batch of cadets to have pursued the Bachelor’s degree in Defence and Security Studies from the National Defence University of Kenya, highlighting the unique blend of academic excellence and military training they had achieved.
“These graduating officers are not just soldiers; they are scholars, strategists, and patriots,” President Ruto remarked. “I am confident they have been thoroughly prepared, morally grounded, and expertly equipped to shoulder the sacred responsibility of defending our people, sovereignty, and territorial integrity with courage, clarity, and commitment.”

The parade marked the culmination of up to three years of rigorous training, during which the cadets underwent comprehensive evaluations, tests, and assessments in various military disciplines.
The training emphasized both individual and group skills, ensuring that each officer is well-equipped to face the challenges ahead.
