M-PESA Update v3.2: International Airtime Purchase, Enhanced Security, and Bug Fixes

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In a move to enhance user experience and security, M-PESA recently rolled out its v3.2 update, introducing a couple of highly anticipated features.

The features range from enabling the purchase of international airtime to improving account security with two-factor authentication.

Buy Airtime for Over 70 Countries

One of the standout features of the v3.2 update is the ability to purchase airtime for international numbers.

This addition allows M-PESA users to top up airtime for friends and family in over 70 countries, directly from the app.

This feature has been a long-time demand from Kenyans with loved ones in the diaspora, aiming to stay connected effortlessly.

Accessible through the Buy Airtime section of the app, this new capability offers a seamless experience for international communication.

Enhanced Security with Two-Factor Authentication

In response to growing concerns about mobile money security, the v3.2 update introduces two-factor authentication (2FA).

This added layer of security requires users to verify their identity with a code sent via call or SMS before accessing their accounts.

By implementing 2FA, M-PESA aims to protect users from unauthorized access and potential scams, addressing a crucial need in today’s digital landscape.

Improved User Experience

The update also includes several bug fixes. These tweaks are designed to smooth out any lingering issues, ensuring a more stable and reliable user experience.

Whether you’re navigating through the app or performing transactions, expect a more polished interface and fewer interruptions.

The update has begun rolling out nationwide on iOS devices, while Android users may experience a slightly slower rollout.

If you haven’t received the update yet, it might be time to check your app store settings or manually update the M-PESA app.
