NAIROBI, Kenya- Visa has announced the top five finalists for the inaugural She’s Next Kenya program, each vying for the grand prize of up to Sh2.5 million.
The finalists are Busu Naturals, Cladfy, Code with Kids, Crafts with Meaning, and Timao Group.
She’s Next is a crucial part of Visa’s initiative to foster an inclusive and equitable world where women business owners can thrive.
The program aims to support women-owned small businesses through comprehensive funding, training, and mentorship.
According to Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, Visa Kenya Country Manager, the finalists were selected from an overwhelming number of applications showcasing exceptional business acumen, innovation, and resilience.
“These finalists have demonstrated exceptional business acumen, innovation, and resilience, standing out from a highly competitive field,” Ngigi-Sarwari said.
In addition to the top five, an additional 15 SMEs will enter a capacity-building and mentorship program conducted in partnership with Kayana Create, a community of female entrepreneurs.
This partnership aims to support and empower talented women entrepreneurs to elevate their businesses.
Patricia Okelo, Co-founder of Kayana Create, emphasized the program’s ongoing commitment: “She’s Next Kenya continues to champion the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, fostering innovation and creating economic opportunities. We congratulate the finalists and look forward to their presentations.”
The selected SMEs span various industries, including sustainability, financial services, and STEM education.
These diverse fields highlight the breadth of talent and innovation among Kenya’s women entrepreneurs.
The winner of the Visa She’s Next Kenya KES 2.5 million grant will be announced on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
