Conversation With GenZs: President Ruto To Host Inaugural X-Space Friday

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – In a move meant to bridge the gap between his administration and the Kenyan youth, President William Ruto is scheduled to host a much-anticipated virtual space on Friday.

The State House announced that this event aims to address the pressing issues currently facing the nation.

During this virtual space, President Ruto will delve into the state of the country, focusing on critical topics such as the national debt, corruption, and other challenges that have plagued his administration over the past 20 months.

The X-Space is seen as a crucial platform for open dialogue and engagement with the youth, who have been vocal about their concerns.

“All Kenyans are welcome to contribute to this dialogue as part of our collective effort to foster national renewal and create a better Kenya for all,” reads a Cabinet dispatch obtained by Y News.

This virtual engagement follows a tumultuous period marked by 14 days of intense protests, during which 35 people lost their lives, and hundreds were injured.

The demonstrations, driven by widespread discontent over a proposed financial bill, escalated into chaos as criminal elements infiltrated the peaceful protests, leading to significant property damage.

The President’s decision to host this space is viewed as a response to the youth’s call for more meaningful reforms and transparency in governance.

Observers say the move signifies a willingness to listen and engage with the younger generation, who have been at the forefront of demanding accountability and change.

One of the key issues expected to dominate the discussion is the country’s mounting debt.

With increasing pressure to manage the fiscal deficit, the youth are keen to understand the government’s plans to mitigate the debt crisis without further burdening the citizens.

Corruption, a perennial issue in Kenyan politics, will also be a focal point of the discussion.

President Ruto is expected to outline his administration’s efforts to combat corruption and restore public trust.

This comes at a time when confidence in the government is waning, and there is a growing demand for tangible actions against corrupt practices.

The virtual space is anticipated to mark the beginning of a broader dialogue over several issues raised during the protests.

President Ruto is soon expected to announce significant changes in his government, including a potential Cabinet reshuffle, aimed at restoring confidence and demonstrating his commitment to addressing the grievances of the Kenyan people.
