Huawei Unveils Cloud Stack 8.3 To Help Africa’s Digital Transformation

NAIROBI, Kenya- Huawei has unveiled its latest innovation, the Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3, aimed at accelerating industry intelligence across Africa. 

This announcement was made at the Huawei Africa Connect 2024 conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, highlighting the company’s commitment to driving digital transformation on the continent.

Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3 promises to deliver trusted cloud infrastructure, innovative cloud services, and extensive industry expertise to help African governments and enterprises embrace cloud technology. 

Hu Yuhai, Vice President of Huawei Hybrid Cloud, emphasized the company’s mission: “Huawei Cloud strives to be the preferred cloud for intelligent transformation.”

To support this vision, Huawei has ramped up investments in Africa, beginning with the launch of Africa’s first public cloud region in Johannesburg in 2018 and expanding to Northern Africa with a new public cloud region in Cairo in 2024. 

Recognized as one of the fastest-growing cloud providers globally, Huawei Cloud is dedicated to empowering African customers to innovate and transform digitally.

During the conference, Huawei hosted the “Leap2Cloud” event, attracting over 300 enterprise executives and IDC experts from diverse sectors, including government, finance, transportation, and energy. 

The event focused on exploring pathways for a seamless transition to the cloud.

In his speech, Bai Yan, Vice President of Huawei Cloud for the Southern Africa Region, highlighted the challenges faced by industry customers, such as issues with submarine optical cables, inefficient cloud resource acquisition, and data sovereignty concerns. 

He explained how Huawei Cloud Stack addresses these challenges with its reliable on-premises cloud infrastructure, a comprehensive suite of over 110 cloud services, and a diverse partner ecosystem.

Huawei Cloud’s dedication to enhancing cooperation with industry customers and partners is evident in its efforts to develop scenario-specific solutions tailored to Africa’s needs. 

“Digital transformation is currently experiencing exponential growth,” noted Xiao Yi, President of Huawei Cloud’s Global Ecosystem Solution Department. “We are stepping into the era of intelligence. Huawei Cloud looks forward to joining hands with African partners to build a new foundation for an intelligent world.”
