Kenya Airways Partners with Safaricom to Revolutionize In-flight Experience

NAIROBI, Kenya- In a groundbreaking move to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience, Kenya Airways has teamed up with Safaricom. 

This strategic partnership aims to drive innovations that will not only streamline airline operations but also introduce cutting-edge technologies to the aviation industry.

Kenya Airways and Safaricom are set to revolutionize the in-flight experience with enhanced connectivity and in-flight Wi-Fi. 

This collaboration focuses on several key areas, including infrastructure inspection, security surveillance, and loyalty programs. 

Additionally, the partnership aims to leverage data science and software development to innovate within the aviation sector, even extending into areas such as agriculture.

Fredrick Kitunga, Chief Information and Data Officer at Kenya Airways, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “Kenya Airways’ collaboration with Safaricom is a testament to the power of co-creation,” he stated.

“By harnessing our combined expertise, we are not only addressing today’s challenges but also laying the groundwork for sustainable growth, enhanced connectivity, and transformative innovations that will benefit our customers and communities for years to come,” he concluded. 

The partnership also focuses on developing and implementing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to improve warehousing, baggage tracking, and aircraft material management. 

These solutions will cover tracking, location, reconciliation, and stock-taking, ensuring streamlined operations and enhanced efficiency.

Cynthia Kropac, Head of Business at Safaricom, highlighted the transformative potential of this partnership: “This Memorandum of Understanding solidifies our commitment to providing a transformative experience for our customers, connecting people in new and innovative ways.”
