Carrefour Launches Second Edition of 18-month Retail Graduate Program

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Majid Al Futtaim Retail, the operator of Carrefour in Kenya, has unveiled the second edition of its highly anticipated Retail Graduate Program.

With applications open until August 15, 2024, the program is set to welcome new candidates in October 2024, offering a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain invaluable experience in the retail industry.

Building on the success of the first edition, which saw 71 candidates from six countries, the program now extends its reach to include eight countries.

New participants from Lebanon, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia will join those from Egypt, Georgia, Kenya, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

The 18-month program provides graduates with hands-on experience through three six-month rotations in various operational areas, including in-store operations, e-commerce, merchandise functions, and customer service.

This structured approach ensures participants receive a comprehensive foundation for future career development within the company, reflecting Majid Al Futtaim Retail’s dedication to both its employees and the communities it serves.

A significant aspect of this year’s program is its emphasis on diversity and providing opportunities for women.

Locally, the initiative partners with four universities: the University of Nairobi (UoN), Strathmore University, United States International University Africa (USIU-Africa), and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

This is an increase from two universities last year, reinforcing the company’s commitment to developing future leaders in retail.

Commenting on the launch, Christophe Orcet, Regional Director for East Africa at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, stated, “The Retail Graduate Program embodies our commitment to nurturing future retail leaders – a reflection of our core value.”
