NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 31 – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has identified several petrol stations and trucks as non-compliant during inspections conducted between October and December 2025, citing diesel adulteration and export violations.
According to EPRA, a total of 4,394 tests were conducted across 967 petroleum sites during the period. Of these, 957 sites (98.97%) complied with fuel quality standards, while 10 sites (1.03%) were found non-compliant.
Non-Compliant Sites and Trucks
Some of the key non-compliant cases included:
- Meridian Fuels Filling Station, Ngata, Nakuru – Diesel adulterated with domestic kerosene.
- Local Truck No. KDL 383S (Mohamed Boat Services Limited), Maungu, Taita Taveta – Diesel with high sulphur and adulterated with domestic kerosene.
- Akwabi Filling Station, Bukura, Kakamega – Diesel adulterated with domestic kerosene.
- Local Truck No. KCL 058Y (Abdi Mohammed Technologies Limited), Likoni, Mombasa – Diesel intended for export.
- Eden Energy Service Station, Wote, Makueni – Diesel meant for export.
- Local Truck No. KCQ 130B (Abdi Mohammed Technologies Limited), Likoni, Mombasa – Diesel meant for export.
At the KRA Yard in Moyale, Marsabit, several sites storing diesel in jerrycans were flagged for high sulphur content and suspected smuggling. Sites 1, 3, 4, and 5 were affected.
“During the period October to December 2025, the Authority conducted a total of 4,394 tests at 967 petroleum sites. From the tests, 957 (98.97%) of the sites were found to be compliant.
However, tests from 10 sites (1.03%) turned out to be non-compliant,” the Authority said in a notice.
EPRA said the inspections are part of ongoing efforts to ensure fuel quality, protect consumers, and prevent illegal distribution.
