NAIROBI, Kenya – Weetabix East Africa has appointed James Mugo as its new ICT Executive, entrusting him with leading the company’s digital transformation agenda and strengthening its regional technology strategy.

Mugo, an experienced IT leader with more than a decade in systems integration and enterprise technology management, steps into the role after serving as IT Manager at Tropikal Brands Afrika.

There, he oversaw critical projects including enterprise resource planning (ERP) upgrades, sales force automation, production process automation, cloud deployment, and cybersecurity enhancements.

At Weetabix, Mugo has already taken charge of aligning the subsidiary’s operations with global policies and regional regulations.

He has spearheaded the integration of East Africa’s systems into Weetabix UK’s Microsoft Dynamics ERP, led ISO recertification and data protection compliance, streamlined service providers to improve efficiency and cut costs, and rolled out artificial intelligence tools for sales entry and data analysis.

His earlier career includes a seven-year stint as ICT administrator at Capital FM Kenya, where he managed IT infrastructure and broadcast systems, resolved critical frequency interference issues, and ensured compliance with broadcasting regulations.

He began his professional journey at Spans Ventures, designing and implementing IT solutions for diverse clients.

Mugo holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Diploma in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Weetabix said his appointment is part of its broader push to leverage technology in improving efficiency, compliance, and business growth in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) space.
