NAIROBI, Kenya – Passenger traffic surged worldwide in 2024, with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport once again claiming the top spot as the world’s busiest hub.

The U.S. airport welcomed 108.1 million travellers last year, cementing its role as a key domestic and international connector.

Dubai International Airport ranked second with 92.3 million passengers, strengthening its reputation as a major global transit hub linking East and West.

In North America, Dallas-Fort Worth Airport handled 87.8 million passengers, while Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in Japan attracted 85.9 million.

London Heathrow, Europe’s busiest airport, rounded out the top five with 83.9 million passengers.

Other airports in the top tier included Denver, Istanbul, and Chicago O’Hare, each recording traffic of more than 80 million travellers.

The figures highlight the continued rebound of global air travel, with airports in both established and emerging hubs competing for dominance as demand for international connectivity grows.
