NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced plans to develop and manage a Commercially Important Persons (CIP) Terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
This ambitious project aims to redefine VIP travel at Kenya’s busiest airport, enhancing services for high-profile passengers, including dignitaries and business executives.
In a notice, KAA invited eligible firms to express their interest in designing and operating the state-of-the-art CIP terminal. This facility promises to offer exclusive, high-end services tailored for commercially important travelers.
A crucial part of the bidding process includes a mandatory pre-bid site visit scheduled for December 17, where interested firms can familiarize themselves with the project’s scope and requirements.
According to the KAA, this project is part of ongoing efforts to modernize Kenya’s airport infrastructure and align it with international standards.
This development follows the cancellation of a controversial deal with India’s Adani Group. The scrapped partnership, initially structured under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), would have seen the Indian conglomerate build a new airport facility in Kenya.
Concerns over Adani’s past dealings in other countries led to public skepticism about the arrangement.
In response, President William Ruto assured Kenyans that new partnerships are being explored to secure a more transparent and credible collaborator for Kenya’s airport modernization goals.
The proposed CIP terminal at JKIA signals a broader commitment to elevating the passenger experience for VIP travelers. By introducing world-class facilities and services, KAA is positioning JKIA as a competitive hub in regional and global air travel.
