NAIROBI, Kenya–Retail chain Naivas has marked 35 years of operations in Kenya by reaffirming its dedication to expansion and long-term sustainability, as it eyes broader national coverage and eco-conscious operations.
With beginnings dating back to the 1990s, the retailer attributes its steady rise to a strong operational model and enduring partnerships with its supply network.
Speaking during the anniversary celebrations, Naivas Head of Strategy Joseph Pertton reflected on the company’s milestones and revealed plans to strengthen its footprint across the country.
“We will continue to grow over all the footprint. Where we see opportunities, we will certainly be coming there to give the great offering that Naivas does,” said Pertton.
He added that several new store openings are in the pipeline, aligned with the firm’s long-term expansion plans aimed at meeting the needs of Kenya’s fast-changing consumer market.
Currently, Naivas operates 109 outlets and employs over 12,000 staff nationwide an achievement the company says is a testament to its enduring commitment to serving Kenyan households with value-driven products and services.
Looking ahead, Naivas says it is focused on enhancing affordability and accessibility, reaffirming its commitment to remain competitive while improving the overall customer experience.
Sustainability at the Core
In line with its future-oriented vision, the retailer announced that sustainability now forms a central part of its business model.
From smart waste disposal systems to oil recycling in its deli departments, Naivas says its environmental impact is under constant review and improvement.
“And now, as we progress, we are looking even further in that front, and I think as a company overall, we are very much looking forward to adding to that sustainability footprint over time as well. It’s a key focus area for the company,” added Pertton.
As it steps into its next phase, Naivas is focused not just on expanding its market share but doing so with an environmental conscience and a people-first approach.
