Safaricom Secures Top Employer Award for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In a remarkable achievement, Safaricom PLC has been recognized as a Top Employer 2025 in Kenya and Africa for the fourth year in a row.

The company’s consistent commitment to people-first practices has earned it this prestigious title, solidifying its position as Kenya’s top employer.

The award, which highlights the company’s outstanding Human Resource (HR) policies and people practices, underscores Safaricom’s dedication to creating an environment where employees can thrive.

The Top Employers Institute (TEI) certification is not handed out lightly. To receive this accolade, companies must undergo a rigorous evaluation process across six HR domains.

These areas include critical components like People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Diversity & Inclusion.

With over 2,400 companies certified in 125 countries, TEI’s program highlights organizations that prioritize growth, well-being, and a strong organizational culture.

David Plink, CEO of Top Employers Institute, notes that in today’s rapidly evolving world, the 2025 Top Employers have shown resilience and a clear commitment to employee development.

“In these extraordinary times, these organizations are enriching the world of work and setting new standards for people-first leadership,” he says.

Under the leadership of Dr. Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom has consistently prioritized an agile and employee-centric culture.

The company is known for offering hybrid working, flexi-benefits, and a comprehensive suite of talent development initiatives, ensuring employees can continuously upskill for future careers.

This year’s recognition reinforces the strength of Safaricom’s Employer Value Proposition, which focuses on creating opportunities for staff to grow and evolve in their roles.

“Being recognized as a top employer alongside some of Africa’s leading companies is a testament to the strong employer brand we’ve built at Safaricom,” says Ndegwa.

The company’s approach enables staff to grow in their chosen crafts, positioning them for success in an ever-changing technological landscape.

This year, the certification was not only awarded to Safaricom but also to its sister companies, including Vodacom Group and its branches in South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

This certification comes at a time when Safaricom is enhancing its digital initiatives, gearing up for a future that places employee well-being at the core of its strategy. The company’s human resource practices are a vital element of its broader vision for growth and transformation.

Safaricom’s achievement is a reminder of the importance of fostering strong internal cultures in the corporate world. As businesses adapt to changing market conditions, investing in people remains a top priority for success.

This year, the certification was not only awarded to Safaricom but also to its sister companies, including Vodacom Group and its branches in South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania. These companies also earned the coveted recognition, reflecting the continued evolution of Vodacom’s people practices.

In conclusion, Safaricom’s continuous Top Employer recognition proves that prioritizing people and creating an inclusive, empowering work environment is key to driving success, both for employees and the company at large.
