Tatu City Certifies 500 Construction Workers Through NCA

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Tatu City has raised the bar for construction standards in Kenya by completing a National Construction Authority (NCA) accreditation exercise, certifying 500 skilled workers and site supervisors.

This achievement reinforces its reputation for prioritizing safety, quality, and compliance within the country’s construction industry.

The week-long program, conducted at Tatu City’s Industrial Park, Kijani Ridge, and Unity Homes, involved rigorous evaluations of masons, electricians, plumbers, painters, welders, carpenters, and supervisors.

These workers were tested against NCA’s stringent technical and safety standards, setting an example for developers across the country.

“By prioritizing accreditation, Tatu City ensures a safer, more compliant building environment, serving as a model for other developers,” said Julius Muchiri, NCA’s Kiambu County regional coordinator.

Kenya’s construction industry has faced significant challenges, with a recent NCA audit revealing that over 70pc of inspected buildings are unsafe due to non-compliance with codes, unqualified personnel, and corruption.

Tatu City’s initiative is a step toward addressing these issues while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in construction.

At the core of Tatu City’s development strategy is a commitment to quality and safety. “This accreditation program not only enhances the skills of our workforce but also ensures that every structure we build stands the test of time,” said Onesmus Kinyua, Tatu City’s lead clerk of works.

Tatu City’s holistic approach integrates health, safety, and compliance, ensuring that its developments are reliable and resilient.

The accreditation offers peace of mind to contractors and developers, confirming that every worker is equipped with the technical expertise to meet Kenya’s evolving construction demands.

Tatu City’s success in this accreditation initiative highlights the transformative potential of prioritizing worker training and certification.

With construction-related risks making headlines across Kenya, such as frequent building collapses, Tatu City’s proactive stance serves as a blueprint for other developers.

By fostering a workforce that adheres to the highest safety and quality standards, Tatu City is building trust in an industry that desperately needs it.
