Empserve Launches Kenya’s First Eco-Village and Social Innovation Hub in Kajiado County

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Empower and Serve (Empserve), a non-profit organization committed to empowering underserved communities through digital skills and sustainable development, has officially launched Kenya’s first Eco-Village and Social Innovation Hub in Kajiado County.

This ambitious project is set to address the unique challenges of the region by promoting sustainable practices and community-driven solutions, all while focusing on enhancing the quality of life for local residents.

Kajiado County, a region notorious for its harsh climate and limited resources, has long grappled with development obstacles that have stifled growth and diminished residents’ quality of life.

However, the resilience and determination of the local community are driving change.

“The conditions here are tough, but the people are resilient,” remarked Mrs. Priscilla Nanguria, Executive Director of HELGA, a partner organization in the project.

“This project is a testament to the strength and determination of the Kajiado community and represents a significant step toward sustainable development in the region,”Priscilla added.

Empserve has been actively involved in Kajiado County for the past six years, focusing on equipping the youth, particularly young women, with the skills necessary to overcome these pressing challenges.

One of their most impactful initiatives trained over 60 young women, who had been rescued from the harmful practice of female genital mutilation, in entrepreneurship and digital skills.

The newly launched Eco-Village is set to be a beacon of environmental conservation and sustainable living.

It will incorporate renewable energy solutions, advanced water conservation techniques, and sustainable agricultural methods, all designed to create a replicable model for eco-friendly
