NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya will experience a combination of sunny, dry weather and isolated showers this week, according to the latest outlook from the Meteorological Department.
In its weekly forecast covering January 20 to 26, the department said most parts of the country are expected to remain predominantly sunny and dry, even as some regions receive occasional rainfall.
Showers are forecast in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coast, and parts of the south-eastern lowlands.
Despite the expected rainfall in these areas, temperatures are set to remain high across much of the country.
Daytime temperatures above 30°C are likely in North-eastern and North-western Kenya, the Coast, sections of the south-eastern lowlands, parts of the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.
However, nights and early mornings will be markedly cooler in several regions.
The forecast shows minimum temperatures dropping below 10°C in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas around Mt Kilimanjaro.
Residents in these regions have been advised to prepare for chilly nights and cold mornings, even as daytime heat persists.
The Met Department noted that the mix of sunny conditions and isolated rainfall is typical for this time of the year and urged the public to keep monitoring daily weather updates for any changes.
