NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast early-week rainfall followed by mostly sunny and dry conditions across large parts of the country, covering the period from December 30, 2025, to January 5, 2026.
According to the weekly outlook, rains are expected to continue in a few areas at the start of the week, particularly in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, parts of north-western and north-eastern Kenya, the Coastal region, and the south-eastern lowlands.
The department warned that isolated thunderstorms and episodes of heavy rainfall may occur in some of these regions, raising the risk of localised flooding, especially in low-lying and poorly drained areas.
However, the weather is expected to improve as the week progresses, with predominantly sunny and dry conditions forecast over much of the country towards the end of the week.
This transition marks a gradual shift from the short rains season into drier conditions typical of early January.
