Liberia Hosts Dr. Isaac Kalua Green as He Pushes Pan-African Environmental Leadership

Date:

MONRIVIA, Liberia — Green Africa Group Chief Steward Dr. Isaac Kalua Green has wrapped up a high-profile visit to Liberia, where he rallied West African leaders to embrace a new model of people-centred, environmentally rooted development.

Dr. Kalua, who travelled alongside his wife Susan Kalua and Autopax CEO Joy Kalua, was in the country at the invitation of the Government of Liberia.

He delivered a keynote address themed “Service Beyond Self” at a major leadership conference attended by senior government, church and private-sector figures from across the region.

Renowned for promoting stewardship-driven development, Dr. Kalua urged African leaders to adopt transformative approaches that prioritise environmental protection, community empowerment and long-term prosperity.

“Africa will rise when leadership consistently delivers value, protects natural wealth, and empowers communities to prosper with dignity,” he said. “Our continent cannot be built by extracting from the future but by investing in it.”

Drawing from his book Green for Life, Dr. Kalua highlighted how initiatives such as Green Africa Villages and the Plant Your Age campaign are gaining traction beyond Kenya and inspiring institutional change across the continent.

During the visit, Dr. Kalua held meetings with Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Baraka Boakai, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, senior ministers, business leaders and banking executives.

He also met bishops from across West Africa led by Bishop Bimba, Bishop Wolo Belleh and Bishop Weah, with discussions focusing on environmental restoration, youth empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.

He delivered a goodwill message from President William Ruto, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to championing African-led solutions anchored in integrity, innovation and community transformation.

In a symbolic gesture of continental solidarity, President Boakai accepted his appointment as an Ambassador of the Plant Your Age Initiative, and adopted the Swahili name Baraka.

The Liberian First Lady embraced the name Mwende, meaning “beloved.”

Speaking at the conclusion of his mission, Dr. Kalua said: “Liberia is rising. Kenya is rising. Africa is rising. When leaders choose service beyond self, when communities take responsibility for their environment, and when nations collaborate rather than compete, Africa becomes a force the world must reckon with.”

The Green Africa Group continues to gain global recognition for promoting stewardship-driven prosperity rooted in environmental protection, shared value and community transformation.
