NAIROBI, Kenya — Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has convened a high-level meeting of heads of departments and agencies under the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration to review priorities and accelerate the implementation of key reforms.
Murkomen said the meeting, held on Monday morning, focused on improving service delivery, strengthening planning processes, and enhancing coordination across government security and administrative units.
“This morning, I convened a meeting of heads of departments and agencies under the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration to review our priorities and strategies for effective implementation,” Murkomen said.
He noted that the engagement also provided a platform for feedback and accountability, allowing agencies to assess progress and identify bottlenecks slowing down reform implementation.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the ministry has identified several priority areas that require renewed focus, including the fight against alcohol and drug abuse, sustained operations against banditry and criminal gangs, and bringing government services closer to citizens.
“Our priorities include renewed fight against alcohol and drug abuse, sustaining the fight against banditry and criminal gangs, and bringing government services closer to the people,” Murkomen said.
He added that the ministry will pursue closer coordination among agencies to ensure the timely delivery of reforms that respond to public needs, particularly in security-affected regions.
“We will work together as a Ministry to ensure efficient service delivery, strengthened coordination, and timely implementation of reforms that respond to the needs of the people,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo, Principal Administrative Secretary for National Administration Beverly Opwora, Principal Administrative Secretary for Internal Security Jacob Narengo, and heads of departments and agencies under the ministry.
