NAIROBI, Kenya- Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has hailed the near completion of the Mwai Kibaki Tuition Block at Kiharu Technical and Vocational College (TVC) as one of the most fulfilling development milestones in the constituency.
Speaking while highlighting ongoing projects in Kiharu, Nyoro said the new tuition block will significantly enhance the learning environment for students pursuing technical and vocational training, a sector he described as critical to Kenya’s economic transformation.
“Among the development projects we have undertaken in Kiharu Constituency, this one is quite elating,” Nyoro said, noting that the facility is almost ready to receive learners.
The decision to name the tuition block after former President Mwai Kibaki was deliberate, Nyoro said, citing Kibaki’s legacy of selfless leadership, economic reform, and deep belief in education as a driver of national progress.
“President Mwai Kibaki was a leader who woke up every morning to serve Kenya. He subordinated personal aggrandisement, and that gave him clarity of thought and purpose,” Nyoro said.
He added that Kibaki’s leadership laid the foundation for Kenya’s unprecedented economic growth, marked by infrastructure expansion, institutional reforms, and massive investment in education and human capital.
“Our country rose to unprecedented levels economically because of leadership anchored in service, discipline, and long-term thinking,” he said.

Boost to Technical Skills and Youth Empowerment
The Mwai Kibaki Tuition Block is expected to expand training capacity at Kiharu TVC, improving access to quality technical education for young people in Murang’a County and beyond.
Nyoro said strengthening TVET institutions aligns with his broader development agenda of equipping youth with practical skills that match market needs and drive local and national development.
“We are African, and Africa is our business,” Nyoro said, underscoring the need for home-grown solutions powered by skilled labour and innovation.
The project is part of a wider push by the Kiharu MP to invest in education infrastructure, healthcare, roads, and youth empowerment initiatives across the constituency.
As the tuition block nears completion, local leaders and residents have welcomed the project, describing it as both a tribute to visionary leadership and a practical investment in the future of Kenya’s workforce.
