Parts of Nairobi, Nyamira, and Nyeri to Face Power Interruption Tomorrow

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Nyamira, and Nyeri counties this Saturday, November 8, 2025, to allow for essential maintenance and network upgrades.

In a notice issued under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, the utility company said the planned outages are part of ongoing efforts to improve reliability, connect new customers, and upgrade existing power lines.

In Nairobi, the blackout will affect parts of South C from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including KAWI House, KAWI Complex Road, Oleshapara Road, Muhoho Road, CID, KIRDI, Akila 1 & 2 Estates, Akila Police, Mugoya Estate, Amana Estate, MUWA University, Red Cross, Boma Hotel, Al Mbarak Estate, Green 2 Estate and surrounding areas.

In the South Nyanza Region, power will be interrupted in parts of Nyamira County, specifically Nyansiongo and Chepngombe, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

Affected areas include Nyansiongo Mission, Manga Market, Eronge Boarding, Laitigo, Kamukunji Kebuse, Changwani, Etangi, Kahawa Secondary, and Nyansiongo Boys, among others.

In the Mt. Kenya Region, Kiamwangi Coffee Factory and its environs in Nyeri County will experience an outage during the same period.

The affected areas include Kiamwangi Coffee Factory, Saigon, Kwa Ngacha, Kahashu, Kiarithaini Secondary and Primary Schools, Kiaritha-ini Market, Silver Wind Riverbank, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters, and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine maintenance, network upgrades, and connection of new customers.

Customers are advised to treat all electrical lines as live during the maintenance period.
