Singer and hitmaker Iyanii has stirred the entertainment scene once again with a revelation about his love life and the generosity that comes with it.
In an interview making rounds online, the Pombe crooner revealed that he gives his girlfriend, Kemunto Diana, a monthly allowance ranging between Sh150,000 and Sh200,000 depending on her needs.
admission has since set social media ablaze, with fans debating whether it’s a show of love, financial flexing, or simply the cost of dating a star.
“I give my girlfriend an allowance; it depends. Kuna time mahitaji ziko juu, kuna time atakuambia she doesn’t need a lot. So inaendaga ikivary — range ni between 150gs to 200K a month,” Iyanii said in the interview shared by K24 Digital.

Iyanii, whose real name is Ian Oure, has never been shy about mixing his music career with a dash of romance. Earlier this year, he publicly introduced his girlfriend, Kemunto — a social media influencer and lifestyle content creator — during a live performance. The pair later revealed that they are on a celibacy journey as they prepare for marriage, a rare stand in an industry known for its scandals and flamboyant relationships.
In recent interviews, the couple has portrayed a balance of modern romance and traditional values. Iyanii has repeatedly described Kemunto as his ‘peace,’while she has called him ‘a gentleman who gives 100% to his relationship.’
The monthly allowance revelation, however, added an entirely new layer to their public love story — one that has fans equally impressed and intrigued.
The reactions online were swift, humorous, and divided. Some fans praised the singer for being open and generous, while others questioned whether such financial gestures were sustainable or necessary.
“Where do we find these men? KSh200K allowance and love on top? Lord, it’s me again,” joked one fan on X.
Another wrote, “This is the kind of soft life my mother warned me about — because I might never recover from it.”
Still, others saw the move as performative. “When you publicize allowances, you set unrealistic expectations for ordinary people,” one commenter argued. “Most couples can’t afford that. It’s better to focus on love and partnership than the money.”

Iyanii, for his part, didn’t seem bothered by the discourse. “When you love someone, you take care of them,” he later said in a follow-up clip. “It’s not about showing off; it’s about making sure my person is okay.”
Iyanii’s comments tap into a growing trend among Kenyan celebrities — where monthly allowances and lavish gifts have become part of relationship storytelling. From flashy birthday surprises to ‘baby girl treatment’ videos, fans have come to expect a level of financial glamour from their favorite stars.
