The 2025 National Sevens Circuit ended in Kisumu on Sunday, September 14, with KCB RFC winning the Dala 7s title after beating Kabras Sugar 12-5 in a tough final.
The victory also confirmed KCB as the overall circuit champions, closing their season on a high note.
The Dala 7s final brought together two of the most consistent teams in the country. KCB started strongly with an early try that put them in control.
Kabras replied before halftime, but the bankers’ defense held firm.
In the second half, KCB added another try that proved enough to secure the 12-5 win.
The game was physical and tactical, with both sides struggling with the wet conditions at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo. Handling errors were frequent, but KCB showed better organization and discipline when it mattered.
KCB had already sealed the overall National Sevens Circuit crown earlier in the day. Their 15-14 quarterfinal win over Strathmore Leos meant no other team could catch them on points. Strathmore, who had been chasing KCB all season, pushed them close but fell short by a single point.
The bankers went on to beat Daystar Falcons in the semifinal before facing Kabras in the final. Their experience and squad depth made the difference at every stage.

Away from the final, there were plenty of positives for other clubs. Daystar Falcons continued their impressive run this season by finishing third. They beat Menengai Oilers 21-14 in the playoff, showing once again that they are a team to watch.
Strathmore Leos lost narrowly to KCB in the quarters. They fought hard in the placement games and showed they are closing the gap with the top sides.
Kabras Sugar, despite losing in the final, confirmed their growing strength in sevens rugby. Traditionally known as fifteens specialists, they have become serious contenders in the short format too.
KCB’s Vincent Onyala was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit. The Kenya Sevens international was outstanding across all legs, leading his team with tries, creativity, and leadership.
The 2025 National Sevens Circuit began months earlier with the Driftwood Sevens in Mombasa. Since then, the series moved through venues in Nakuru, Nairobi, and Kisumu. KCB were the most consistent team at every leg, finishing near the top in almost all tournaments.
Winning both the Dala 7s and the overall circuit title confirmed them as the best sevens team in Kenya this year.
