Maureen Wambui Kabu has broken her silence following explosive allegations from her estranged stepmother, Sarah Njoki Mtalii, accusing her of being involved in a romantic relationship with her father, renowned businessman Simon Kabu of Bonfire Adventures.
In court documents filed in July, Sarah alleges that Maureen—whom Simon had identified publicly as his daughter—was merely pretending to be his child and was instead living with him “as his wife” in their former matrimonial home.
Sarah referred to the alleged conduct as “incestuous,” suggesting their relationship bears all the hallmarks of adultery and incest.
She claims there was no DNA confirmation to prove Maureen is Simon’s biological daughter, despite their public father-daughter portrayal, and used the allegation to support her divorce petition under Kenya’s Marriage Act
Maureen addressed the wave of public speculation in a recent Instagram post. She shared a photo with her father, captioning it: “My dad has been my biggest mentor, the one who shaped who I am. What’s that one unforgettable thing your dad did for you?”
The post was accompanied by vacation footage of them in Zanzibar, riding horses and enjoying time together—images interpreted by many as a deliberate reaffirmation of a familial bond.
She has not directly referenced the allegations nor appeared in court filings as a contributor to the claims
The allegations have sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms and local entertainment forums.
While some users sided with Sarah Mtalii, pointing to the lack of earlier acknowledgment of Maureen during the 15-year marriage, others defended Simon and Maureen, citing family loyalty and skepticism toward what they perceive as sensational court tactics.
