NAIROBI, Kenya — CAF Confederation Cup-bound Nairobi United FC have appointed former Harambee Starlets head coach Godfrey ‘Solo’ Oduor as their new head coach, following Nicholas Muyoti’s departure to Kenya Premier League champions Kenya Police FC.
Oduor joins the Naibois from the South Sudanese side Jamus FC, where he served as assistant coach from 2024 after leaving Shabana FC.
His appointment marks a major step forward in his coaching career, placing him in charge of a club competing both domestically and on the continental stage.
The FKF Cup (Mozzart Bet Cup) champions had been without a substantive head coach for two weeks after Muyoti’s exit.
During the interim period, Technical Director Salim Ali steadied the team, overseeing one win and two draws in three matches.
Oduor brings wide-ranging experience across club and national team football.
At Jamus FC, he quickly established himself as a key member of the technical bench and twice served as interim head coach, helping the club qualify for continental competition — a milestone achievement for the South Sudanese outfit.

His coaching career began at Kibera Black Stars, where he guided the club from the provincial leagues to the National Super League between 2016 and 2019.
He later had two spells as head coach at Nzoia Sugar FC and spent four seasons as assistant coach at KCB FC, gaining vital top-flight experience.
On the international scene, Oduor has worked extensively with Kenyan national teams.
He has served as assistant and interim head coach of the Harambee Starlets and as assistant coach of the Kenya Under-20 national team.
He has also worked under seasoned tacticians, including former AFC Leopards coach Andre Casa Mbungo and Ethiopian coach Wubetu Abate, experiences that have shaped his tactical philosophy and leadership approach.
Expectations at Nairobi United are high. The club has tasked Oduor with guiding the team to at least the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, securing a top-three finish in the Kenyan Premier League, and defending the FKF Cup to guarantee continental football next season.
The Naibois booked their Confederation Cup berth after defeating Gor Mahia 2–1 in the 2025 FKF Cup final.
Oduor’s first major test comes on Sunday, January 25, when Nairobi United host Tanzanian giants Azam FC in a crucial CAF Confederation Cup Group B match at Nyayo National Stadium.
Both sides are yet to record a win in the group.
Moroccan giants Wydad AC and DR Congo’s Maniema Union lead Group B with six points each after two rounds, heightening the importance of the Nairobi clash.
