NAIROBI, Kenya- The National Police Service (NPS) will on Monday carry out a nationwide recruitment exercise targeting thousands of new constables, with centres set to open in all constituencies and sub-counties across the country.
The exercise, which will be conducted simultaneously by teams from the Administration Police, Kenya Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), aims to boost staffing levels and strengthen service delivery in line with the government’s ongoing security reforms.
According to guidelines issued by the NPS, the recruitment will start early in the morning at designated venues, with all applicants required to present original academic certificates, national identification cards, and any other relevant documents.
Gates at recruitment centres will close at the exact time indicated, with officials warning that latecomers will not be admitted.
The Service has emphasized that the process will be strictly merit–based, and warned officers against engaging in bribery, corruption, or favouritism — longstanding concerns that have marred previous drives.

In recent years, police recruitment exercises have attracted tens of thousands of young Kenyans seeking employment in the security sector.
Officials say the demand is expected to remain high this year, as the country continues to push for more officers to match population growth and emerging security threats.
Monday’s countrywide exercise is expected to be closely monitored by multi-agency teams from IPOA, IAU, and other oversight bodies to ensure transparency and adherence to established procedures.
The NPS has urged applicants to familiarize themselves with the official requirements and warned against falling for fraudsters circulating false information or demanding bribes in exchange for “guaranteed slots.”
The Service will issue a detailed brief at the end of the recruitment day.
The recruitment will be conducted in 422 centres across the country, with the exercise running strictly from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Officials emphasise that the process is entirely free of charge, warning applicants not to offer bribes, and warning officers not to solicit money, saying anyone caught will face criminal action.
Applicants must meet several mandatory requirements.
These include being Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, physically and medically fit, and without any criminal record or pending court cases. Candidates must also possess a minimum KCSE mean grade of D+, with at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili. On recruitment day, all applicants are required to present their original academic certificates, their national ID, birth certificate, and photocopies of each document.
