NAIROBI, Kenya- The pain of losing a child never truly fades.
For Peninah Manyara, known to many as Mama Mungai, the loss of her son earlier this year left a wound that words can barely describe.
Her son, a skilled IT professional working in Eldoret, died in February, cutting short a promising life and leaving behind a grieving family.
Beyond the emotional loss, Mama Mungai also lost her breadwinner, plunging her family into uncertainty.
Speaking about the tragedy, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi recalled witnessing the depth of a mother’s grief during the burial.
“Losing a child is like losing a part of yourself,” he said. “The pain of losing a son is unbearable.”

Moved by her suffering, Sudi made a pledge at the burial — to buy her land and build her a home, offering stability to a family shaken by loss.
Ten months later, that promise has been fulfilled.
On Friday, Mama Mungai was handed the keys to a three-bedroom house built in Lemook, Kapseret, marking a new chapter after months of mourning.

She will be relocating from Langas, where the family had been living.
Sudi said the moment was deeply personal, describing Mama Mungai not just as a beneficiary, but now as a neighbour.
